From Chef to Coach – A Kitchen Leadership Journey
With a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry, I've transitioned from bustling kitchens to boardrooms, evolving into a culinary leadership coach dedicated to empowering chefs and hospitality professionals.
Early Culinary Foundations
My culinary journey began in Sydney, where the vibrant food scene ignited my passion. During my apprenticeship, I embraced competitive cooking, earning the title of Apprentice of the Year in 1998. This accolade propelled me into diverse roles across five-star hotels, apline resorts and restaurants in Canada, refining my skills and broadening my knowledge.
International Experience and Mentorship
Seeking further growth, I joined the Michelin-starred Harvey’s Restaurant in England under French chef Daniel Galmiche. This step introduced me to culinary icons like Heston Blumenthal, Gordon Ramsay, and Michel Roux Jr. I absorbed invaluable insights that shaped my approach to kitchen leadership and team dynamics.
Leadership and Media Engagement
Melbourne's dynamic and supportive food culture bought me back to Australia. Collaborating with Jamie Oliver and Tobie Puttock, I served as Training and Development Chef at Fifteen Melbourne, mentoring young apprentices and fostering a culture of growth. My diverse projects extended to recruiting the judges and constenstants for MasterChef Australia, contributing to a transformative era in Australian culinary media.
Evolving into a Leadership Coach
Recognising the need for strong leadership in hospitality, I transitioned into coaching, focusing on developing high-performing kitchen teams and nurturing emerging leaders. Through workshops, one-on-one coaching, and strategic consulting, I aim to instill confidence, resilience, and a growth mindset in culinary professionals.
My Philosophy
I believe in "leaving people better than you found them." This philosophy drives my commitment to empowering individuals and teams to thrive in high-pressure environments, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
