Mind Food | 'Tis the Season...
It’s the time of year when many of us are thinking about what to cook the family for Christmas. When planning a menu, one of the first considerations is around seasonality….
What is growing in abundance?
What is ripe for harvesting?
What is at the peak of its flavour?
I tend to think of seasons in this context:
Summer – A time of ripening and abundance, perhaps preserving for winter
Autumn – We experience a shedding of old leaves and transformation
Winter – A time of dormancy, rejuvenation and conserving energy
Spring – When new growth and possibilities occur
Seasons are a great time frame to work with from a strategic perspective.
They are not too long to lose sight of the goals, and not too short to feel the pressure of urgency.
In December I often hear people in the workplace saying ‘If I can just make it through the next month’ or ‘I’m just hanging in there – can’t wait for a break’
Noted, we all need a break from time to time, but does the year have to finish with you tired and worn out?
Do you have the energy levels you desire?
So, as the year draws to a close, I wish you focus, reflection, rejuvenation and growth throughout the Christmas holidays.
What ‘season’ are you operating in?
