Restrictions. Lockdown. Start. Stop. Open. Shut.

Covid has shown us that our flexibility and travel freedom are no longer guaranteed, and our daily rhythm has changed.

I don’t know about you, but I am a free range chicken…..Staying in one place for too long definitely messes with my mojo.

For me, I tend to think of mojo as my energy or drive to get things done.

In the current climate, many of us are lacking our usual mojo, therefore momentum is low.

We see this play out in sport every week. Your team starts out strong, confidence is high, they have good energy, things are working, they are scoring when suddenly one or two decisions don’t go their way, heads drop and the momentum shifts.

Despite how much you yell, support and cheer they can’t get their head back in the game.

Yet, it would have only taken one small, effortless moment that could have been the catalyst to turn everything around. A well timed message, a pat on the back, an act of courage or determination to turn the tide and change the outcome.

When our mojo is low we usually miss those moments.

The long term cost? - No momentum

You see, it’s the little things that actually change the game. Enough small actions, done in succession add up to change the momentum and therefore the outcome.

Sometimes we just need to do something small to change up our daily mojo and get a few wins on the board.

Three simple actions that I use when I feel flat are:

1.     Lower the expectation – Reading 1 chapter a night? Too hard. Try 3 pages. 100 sit ups?  No chance – try 5.  Start small and build up

2.     Meditation – even just 5 mins a day is enough to change your mindset. I use Insight timer.

3.     Inspiration – One quick message or make a call – sending positive mojo into the world comes back tenfold.

Small actions, done consistently over time, creates huge momentum for you, your family, your team and your organisation.

What small steps can you start with today?
